Hey there, tech enthusiasts and future educators! Do you have experience teaching kids and have basic coding skills? We’ve got a fantastic opportunity just for you! Join Coding with Kids as a Coding Instructor and help K-12 students discover the magic of programming after school and during camps.

$$$ Bonus and Compensation Alert: Earn up to $60 for each class you teach! How does that break down? You are paid at a competitive base rate for:

• Teaching time with students
• The time you prepare for the class
• The extra time you need onsite to set up and clean up each day

This adds up to 2 hours of paid time per one-hour class.

In addition, you will earn a performance bonus of $20-30 per day for the in-person class you teach as long as you fulfill your professional responsibilities.

This adds up to earning $40-$60 per hour of teaching kids!

What You'll Be Doing:

• Teach Fun Coding Classes: Lead interactive, hands-on coding sessions at local schools in the greater central Maryland area in Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Frederick, Damascus, and along the I-270 corridor.
• Diverse Curriculum: Use our engaging curriculum to teach a variety of programming languages including Scratch, Python, AI, Web Development, Minecraft Modding, Roblox, Robotics, and more!
• Inspire Students: Create a positive, exciting learning environment that makes coding learning fun and accessible.
• Build Connections: Foster strong relationships with students and fellow instructors.

Pay: $15.50 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 15 per week

• If you're interested in teaching during our upcoming school year (starting in fall and running through spring), which days are you available to work in person between 2 PM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday?

(Choices are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Online Only, or I am not interested in after school classes during the school year):

• This is a part time position; how many hours a week are you hoping to work with us per week knowing that on average instructors work between 5 - 15 hours?
• What coding languages do you know that you would be comfortable using in the classroom? Do you know how to teach or use Scratch, Minecraft modding, Roblox development, or Robotics programming skills? (These are optional skills that are not required for employment.)
• Our limit for in person instruction is that we can have up to 16 students in a classroom. Are you comfortable working with that amount of students or do you need to work with smaller class sizes or private classes?
• Do you have experience using Zoom to the point that you would be comfortable utilizing it for work purposes?
• We offer elementary, middle, and high school instruction; are you open to working with any age group?
• Do you have any experience in K-12 education that you would like for us to be aware of? If you do not have experience in education, do you have any experience working with or volunteering with children that you would like for us to be aware of?
• Were you referred by a current or former employee at Coding with Kids? If so, which employee?
• We run a background check on all candidates. If you come onboard as an instructor at Coding with Kids do you have a clean criminal record history? If not, please provide more information about the specifics of your situation so it can be considered with your application.
• Are you interested in teaching in person, online, or both?
• If you are teaching in person, do you have a personal vehicle such as a car to get to your classes? If yes, does it have enough space in the back seat or trunk to transport a set of laptops and a projector for class which will be provided by us?
• If you are interested in teaching in person, are you open to traveling to school placements within a 30 minute drive radius of your home? If not, please provide the distance you are willing to travel to a school placement.
• We have immediate positions available for the upcoming school year: in person after-school classes and winter and summer for our camps programs. Which of these programs would you like to be considered for? (Choices are: in person after school classes, in person camps, or online only. Copy in all that apply)
