JOB TITLE: Clinical Supervisor/RT – Radiation Oncology
DEPARTMENT: Cancer Treatment Center
REPORTS TO: Cancer Center Director
JOB SUMMARY
The principal responsibilities of this role includes day-to-day operations, personnel management, serving as a liaison with external vendors; establishing/ensuring adherence to clinical standards of care, evaluation and procurement of department equipment and supplies and participation/collaboration in the creation of the operational and capital budgets. Manages the operation of all technical equipment and the performance of all procedures in the department.
The Radiation Oncology Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the leadership of the radiation oncology department. He/she oversees the day-to-day operations, staff supervision, and communication and collaboration with physicians, physicist, nursing staff, front desk staff, etc. The principle responsibilities include management of day-to-day operations, establishing clinical standards of care; personnel management, assist Director in the preparation and administration of the revenue and expense budget; serving as a liaison with external vendors; participation in the capital equipment requests process including equipment evaluation; procurement and evaluation of other equipment and supplies. The Clinical Supervisor collaborates with physicians and physicists on issues related to the management of patient care, and interacts with the Cancer Center Director and the physician to regularly to promote effective care. He/she acts as a resource within the institution and to the community in the care of cancer patients. He/she is responsible for the education, staff development and quality improvement for the Radiation Therapy Technologists (RTT), and the rest of the radiation oncology staff. Problems encountered are of a moderate to complex level of difficulty and are usually solved by skillful communication, conflict management, creative and independent solutions, interpreting work rules and guidelines, calm and thoughtful analysis of the problem as it applies to the individual, group, department or hospital as a whole. The incumbent must be able to interact with a large and diverse group. In this position, the Radiation Therapist is also responsible for the care, application and execution of ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the radiation oncologist.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of a one, two or four year accredited radiation therapy program. Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or another relevant field.
- Must be a registered member in good standing of the ARRT in radiation therapy or registry eligible.
- Current Wyoming Radiation Therapy license.
- Membership of ASRT preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Radiation Therapist required. Prior leadership experience in a cancer treatment center.
- Experience with proven proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction and counseling.
- Clinic/health management experience.
SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment.
- Experience and working knowledge of computers, and Microsoft Office Suite products including Outlook, Word, etc., as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Possession of analytical decision-making skills necessary to quickly assess and resolve complex logistical, technical and patient care problems and issues.
- Ability to train, motivate and supervise subordinate staff.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (AHA) certification.
