About the Job :
This position will require company-supported relocation to Northern Nevada to work on-site at Coeur Rochester near Lovelock, NV. We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator. This position involves performing complex environmental oversight with considerable independent judgment and decision making. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Coordinator, the Environmental Coordinator will perform the following duties at the Rochester Mine :
Responsibilities :
- Assists the Senior Environmental Coordinator and Environmental Manager in ensuring sitewide compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations and permits.
- Regular involvement with operations to ensure adherence to environmental policies, standards and best management practices.
- Review environmental data on a regular basis and recommend corrective actions to the Senior Environmental Coordinator and Environmental Manager when necessary. Provides input and assists operations personnel in the planning and response to environmental issues and concerns.
- Assists with planning, schedules, and monitoring environmental aspects of capital projects .
- Ensures compliance with the required environmental deliverables through inspections, physical audits, and timely correction of identified deficiencies.
- Assist the Environmental Analyst with the implementation and management of the environmental management system.
- Conducts field environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, wildlife, soils, vegetation, meteorology, waste management, and cultural resources.
- Assist, formulate, document and execute environmental sampling routines with the Senior Environmental Technician and promote quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements of applicable permits and company policy.
- Obtain a Nevada State Drinking Water and / or Wastewater Operator Certification
- Promote sustainable mining practices, including energy efficiency, water management, and waste reduction.
- Assists in the preparation of permits, studies, or regulatory reports related to environmental compliance.
- Develop and update monitoring and reporting protocols in accordance with state and federal statutes and regulations.
- Supervise activities of external contractors / consultants involved with environmental compliance, mitigation and reclamation projects.
- Provide sites training, equipment inspections and other necessary documentation and / or training to contractors for on-site projects.
- Provide Environmental training to staff as requested.
- Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to handle a heavy and complex workload.
- Assists in various administrative tasks.
- Potential to directly supervise Environmental Technicians
