VEKA, a manufacturer of PVC profiles with over 800 employees in four US locations, is looking for a dynamic and motivated Training, Safety & Environmental Coordinator for its Reno, NV manufacturing facility.
We are in search of a dedicated professional to join our team to develop, implement, and monitor safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for our VEKA’s Reno facility, with approximately 100 employees. This role involves providing safety training as well as implementing corporate and facility specific training programs and promoting a culture of workplace safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts new hire orientation and train employees on required skills and safety procedures. Provides training on equipment, such as fork truck, crane, and hand tools. Demonstrates proper use of safety equipment.
- Monitors new hire training progress, addresses any issues and ensures that such are resolved by the appropriate responsible team member.
- Participates in incident investigation, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and document results in corporate reports.
- Ensures workplace environments, equipment, and practices comply with OSHA, industry standards, and government regulations.
- Facilitates employee training programs to improve workforce effectiveness
- Supports the enhancement of employee skills and satisfaction to attract and retain a quality workforce that meets business objectives and production needs.
- Performs additional duties as needed and assigned.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, state, industry and environmental regulations Strong problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Team oriented with leadership qualities utilizing influence over position with the ability to motivate employees.
- Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP
- Occasional travel to other VEKA locations
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, associate degree preferred.
- At least 2 years manufacturing experience
