About the Job :
The Mobile Maintenance Superintendent will report to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for the supervisors, planners and maintenance crews, insuring schedule compliance, and meeting the equipment availability targets while staying within the department budget. The schedule for this position is 14 days on at the mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 14 days off.
Responsibilities :
- Direct the coordination of workplace inspections to identify conditions or practices that have safety concerns and the potential for equipment down time. Correct substandard conditions and practices to minimize employee accidents, property and environmental damage.
- Confirm that proper maintenance schedules are designed and implemented to ensure proper maintenance of company assets. Work closely with the Mine Superintendent to ensure equipment needs and timely availability goals are met.
- Coordinate the defined troubleshooting strategy devoted to continually reviewing testing various lubricants and other equipment service products to maximize fleet availability and longevity.
- Design and implement meaningful preventive maintenance programs including scheduling equipment down-time to perform required servicing and extend life of the equipment.
- Review and manage all staffing and skill levels to meet performance goals. Manage outside service requirements including vendor / contractor safety, costs / quality of services.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual Mobile Equipment Maintenance Department budget and continually manage all costs vs. budget to remain within monthly and annual budget objectives.
- Coordinate preparation of preventive maintenance servicing schedules and support documentation and programs. This includes directing process maintenance mechanical assignments during scheduled down days.
- Be responsive to emergency and / or unplanned high priority repairs and communicate and coordinate responses and plans with both crusher and process production personnel.
- Work closely with the Process Manager and Process Superintendent regarding production goals and the role the maintenance department plays in achieving those goals.
- Coordinate with maintenance supervisors the planning and delivery of training programs to enhance mill maintenance mechanic’s craft skills so they will keep current in industry changes and innovations.
- Assist with the coordination of selecting of external contractors and vendors and aid in ensuring contract compliance and meeting established timelines for completion. Actively assist in timely follow-up regarding problem areas.
