THE ROLE
Senior Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, Insurance Accounting is responsible for providing professional accounting work related to the preparation and maintenance of financial records, the audit of financial transactions, and the production of reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the Reinsurance (monthly, quarterly and budget/forecast) reporting, intercompany reconciliation, and settlements.
- Reviews Quarterly Reinsurance Statements, confirms treaty compliance, and provides activity commentary.
- Prepares DAC calculation (Monthly, quarterly, and Budget/Forecast).
- Books Premium Tax monthly and reconciles accounts and prepares budget/forecast calculation (Monthly, quarterly, and Budget/Forecast).
- GL Accounting and updating monthly and quarterly Trial balances.
- Inputs CACIS (Group Tools), Group quarterly reporting.
- Prepares analysis for Statutory Reporting (e.g. UCC, LOC, YTD Income Statement PY comparison to CY.
- Provides calculation of Unearned premium (UPR), frequency, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Reviewing and posting journal entries.
- Analytical reviews, prepare and examine financial records, ensuring records are accurate.
- Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual accounting reporting.
- Maintains accounting controls and follows accounting policies and procedures.
- Reconcile General Ledger accounts to parent company and/or subsidiary records monthly.
- Lease - IFRS16 knowledge
- Tax knowledge preferred
- Assist and complete Audit requests.
- Create and update SOP’s.
THE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Insurance/Reinsurance professional accounting work.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Ability to deal with numerous deadlines at the same time and work independently.
- Experience in using Oracle Financials highly preferred.
- Highly proficient in Excel. Ability to work a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) to local office in Princeton, NJ.
