POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
FINANCE MANAGER
Coffee House Press is seeking a part-time Finance Manager to join our Minneapolis-based nonprofit literary publishing organization. The individual we are seeking will have strong interpersonal and communications skills and proven expertise in keeping accurate financial records and reports and timely processing of invoices, author royalty payments, and other financial transactions. Coffee House Press, established in in 1972, has grown into an internationally renowned nonprofit publisher of literary fiction, essay, poetry, and other work that doesn’t fit neatly into genre categories.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position reports directly to the Executive Director. This is a part-time hourly position offering compensation of $25 - $30 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience. Working hours consist of 30 hours per week, to be filled at our Northeast Minneapolis offices, although remote work may be arranged.
The Finance Manager will work closely with both the Director of Operations and the Executive Director to ensure that all financial accounts and records are kept current and accurate and prepare monthly financial reports for the organization’s Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of the Board.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Receive, record, validate and process all invoices.
· Process all general ledger entries in a timely manner.
· Monitor and reconcile bank accounts with accounting entries.
· Process and manage bi-weekly payroll for employees.
· Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors, including P&L, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Projection.
· Process inventory sales and adjustments monthly.
· Maintain accurate records of pending royalty payments to Authors based on sales and process Author royalty payments in a timely manner.
· Provide outside accountants with all information required for tax preparation and annual audits.
· Manage the annual budget creation process.
· Maintain complete backup for all transactions.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Three to five years financial and bookkeeping experience.
· Knowledge of, and experience with, finance, accounting and payroll software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, ADP, etc.).
· General knowledge of accounting principles and terminology.
· Strong written and oral communications skills.
· Nonprofit and/or book publishing experience preferred.
· Experience with inventory management preferred
