Description
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the office setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with office physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Nursing
- Licensure in the State of Texas with renewal as required by law
- Previous experience in general nursing required
- Previous experience in an Orthopedic Clinic setting highly desired
- BLS Certification
Role and Responsibilities
- Excellent Customer Service and Patient Care are the most prevalent responsibility.
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner, keeping in mind they may not feel well and possibly concerned for health.
- Performs services in accordance with Cogdell Memorial Hospital and Orthopedic Clinic Policies.
- Performs general nursing care for patients.
- Performs vitals, communicating/documenting symptoms and any concerns patient has for the visit.
- Reviewing and documenting all medications.
- Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
- Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, refers patient problems to office physician or office manager.
- Assists physicians and/or mid-level practitioners during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
- Performs general clerical and office duties.
- Makes/documents referrals as requested by physician in a timely manner.
- Returns phone calls promptly and courteously.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with Physicians, Support Staff, Patients, Orthopedic Clinic Staff and all other hospital personnel.
- Notify in a timely manner any issues that may arise between departments or individuals which affect patient care or office duties to the office manager.
- Preview charts before appointments making sure test results, etc. are ther for appointment
- Demonstrates knowledge of supportive equipment used in the clinic.
- Participates in Quality Improvement program through identification and resolution of problems.
- Required to present all licenses and certifications to Practice Manager when renewed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
