GENERAL
Position Overview
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Rural Health Clinic. The employee in this position is primarily responsible for taking care of the administrative functions involved with scheduling appointments, answering phones from patients. May also be responsible for nursing care under the supervision of physicians, mid-level providers and clinical nursing manager. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with physicians, patients and all other personnel. Meets the communication needs of the department staff and patient/family. Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school graduate or equivalent required; successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (certification required).
Experience
Previous general office experience required; previous experience in family practice nursing highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
Licenses / Certifications / Registries
Current certification as a Medical Assistant; BLS
