NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Vice President Regional Services is responsible for leading their respective region in support of Cognia’s membership services, including accreditation, learning services, and assessment initiatives. The Vice President is responsible for establishing and guiding a strategy that fosters the values and goals of the organization through orchestration of activities within their team members. The Vice President initiates and cultivates relationships and serves as a liaison with key education agencies throughout the region, particularly for schools, districts and state/local education organizations affiliated/aligned with Cognia products and services. The Vice President utilizes current educational expertise and extensive knowledge of Cognia’s solutions to successfully provide guidance, support, and training to Cognia staff within the region; and to support proposals and solutioning spanning all Cognia’s business lines. The Vice President builds, leads, and coaches an effective team, and promotes the Cognia’s vision, mission, and philosophy.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Designs, implements and drives a regional strategic plan aligned to Cognia ‘s strategic direction.
  • Approaches the position with a business development mindset to grow Cognia’s presence within assigned region.
  • Successfully meets quarterly and annual goals, priorities, and key performance indicators.
  • Serves as an expert on all Cognia’s products and services for the region.
  • Ensures effective and ongoing training is provided on all products, services, and solutions for personnel in the region.
  • Provides leadership on all aspects of personnel and business management to all personnel in the region.
  • Provides quality assurance and oversight of the integrity and fidelity of implementation of all aspects of school, district level and education organization contracts and agreements in the region.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies in the region as well as policies, practices, and procedures, and suggests appropriate corrective procedures as needed.
  • Supports strategic relationships with key leaders in districts & state education agencies and/or ministries of education, and other key educational entities across the region.
  • Ensures deliverables are met for State Departments of Education, districts, schools and ed org. institutions that are managed within the region.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues across departments and the organization.
  • Maintains excellent knowledge of Cognia products and services as well as state and federal education program regulations, requirements, funding, best practices, and future trends in order to effectively support and inform Cognia proposal solutions and services.
  • Researches and analyzes local regional context and effective continuous improvement processes in order to influence key district level (& state-level) decision makers.
  • Collaborates with and supports the organization’s other functional areas with local intelligence regarding the region.
  • Regularly updates job and industry knowledge through participation in educational opportunities, professional associations, and personal networks.
  • Provides strategic guidance and data driven processes for decision-making for the region
  • Performs duties and fulfills responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Ten (10) years of successful leadership experience in an education-related organization or equivalent education and business development experience required
  • Understanding of K-12 institutions as well as state education department roles within the education process
  • A proven track record of successful leadership in an education-related organization or equivalent education and business development experience
  • A proven track record of successfully assessing institutions’ needs to improve learning and organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrated expertise in building relationships and/or strategic partnerships
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, executing, and accomplishing strategic plans that substantively contribute to the attainment of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of education, quality learning environments, curriculum and effective instruction, program development and evaluation, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to teaching and learning
  • Proven ability to facilitate multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong leadership: capable of guiding a team to achieve the organizations objectives and goals of Cognia
  • Strategic planning: able to analyze the respective region to understand opportunities to expand Cognia’s business, anticipate trends that may provide opportunities as well as potential adverse impact to business
  • Collaborative skills – capable of effectively working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes in support of Cognia business
  • Perseverance to meet the goals of the organization
  • Self-directed; works independently with minimal need of supervision or direction. Capable of using business judgment to make appropriate decisions as well as knowing when to escalate
  • Ability to deliver high quality oral and written presentations
  • Ability to build and maintain connections/relationships with leaders of educational associations and agencies
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take personal initiative to promote Cognia
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively using Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other software and web-based applications
  • Ability to effectively train, motivate, supervise, and evaluate personnel

Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):

  • Extensive travel (>40%)
  • Travel to Annual All Staff Company Meeting required
