Job Overview :
Cogs are seeking an experienced Category Manager of Contractor Services to oversee and manage the various contractor services for our client, which operates in a heavy industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience negotiating and managing contracts with a diverse range of third-party services and will play a critical role in ensuring contractor performance and managing category spend.

Manage Contractor Services : Oversee a variety of contractor services, including but not limited to :
Boiler Services
Mechanical Services
Electrical Services
Refractory Services
Insulation
Electrical Contractors
Baghouse Services
Metal Working
Scaffolding
Contract Negotiation : Lead complex negotiations with contractors, ensuring competitive pricing and holding contractors accountable to KPIs and performance metrics.
Cost Management : Evaluate and consolidate service providers, analyze justifications for cost changes (e.g., a proposed 20% cost increase), and ensure spend is managed at a reasonable level.
Supplier Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, driving performance improvements and ensuring that contracts are optimized for both service quality and cost.
Decision-Making : Exercise critical judgment in deciding whether changes in contracts and service agreements are justified, based on performance and market conditions.
Contractor Performance Evaluation : Hold contractors to high standards, ensuring they meet agreed-upon terms and performance metrics, and be prepared to address underperformance.
Requirements :
Several years of experience negotiating, managing, and optimizing supplier and contractor performance in a heavy industry environment.
A strong understanding of contractor agreements and how to extract value from these partnerships.
Experience with a wide range of third-party services, particularly within heavy industry (boiler, mechanical, electrical services, etc.).
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to have difficult conversations and hold contractors accountable.
Comfortable working in environments that are often noisy, dirty, and industrial in nature.
Ability to quickly make an impact, with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
