About COGS' Client:
A leading energy company is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join their team as an Instrumentation and Controls/Electrical Supervisor. The role involves supervising, directing, and coordinating the daily activities of I&C technicians in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, along with their associated structures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct system condition assessments to identify and document deficiencies, initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Utilize industry-standard software and analysis tools to develop performance and availability improvement plans.
- Support project planning and execution, including scope review, design requirements, compliance checks, and acceptance testing.
- Plan and assist with major component overhauls and system outages.
- Perform root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures, driving resolution.
- Coordinate with and monitor activities of both internal and external equipment and service providers.
- Document and address unplanned changes to the design basis, ensuring proper corrections are implemented.
- Create or review acceptance test plans and oversee testing procedures to ensure compliance.
- Maintain and update design basis documentation to reflect current standards and practices.
- Develop detailed reports and presentations to inform capital planning decisions and guide management.
- Offer engineering support to station management, addressing operational and technical challenges.
- Represent the organization in committees, contributing to discussions on various issues.
- Maintain clear and effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of technical supervisory or engineering experience, including project management, planning, and administration, with 4 years of supervisory experience being essential.
- 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role within a large process industry (such as a refinery, power plant, or military/merchant marine).
- Hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, BMS, low voltage switchgear, breakers, power cables (up to 480V), UPS, and MCCs.
- Proficient in equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, relay settings, and PLC programming.
- In-depth knowledge of plant control system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing, or analysis within the utility, oil & gas, or marine propulsion industries.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of direct supervision, including the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams.
- Either possesses or is capable of acquiring comprehensive knowledge of industry codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Experience with supervising a unionized workforce is considered advantageous.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
