Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operation of the Filling Department while monitoring productivity, quality, safety, efficiency, housekeeping, and assisting in other tasks as needed. This role involves the ability to manage multiple Filling lines, keeping the operations going, and minimizing downtime and damaged or lost products.
This is what you will do:
- Oversee the work of production line leaders and staff to ensure production goals are met.
- Evaluate production data to ensure we are meeting objectives.
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Coach personnel are under their responsibility to their full capability.
- Ensure proper staffing and that staff receives appropriate training.
- Comply with and work with staff to ensure compliance of regulatory and company standards and procedures.
- Communicate company policies and procedures to employees and enforce them.
- Ensure product is produced efficiently and safely while meeting quality expectations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the filling line has everything necessary to meet objectives.
- Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on using all control points, equipment, and resources.
- Ensure equipment operation by calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Resolve personnel issues.
- Establish and maintain effective, professional relationships.
- Ensure proper staffing and that staff receives appropriate training.
- Evaluate staff performance and competencies.
- Troubleshoot and assist with problem-solving.
- Demonstrate independent judgment and make recommendations regarding business practices.
- Make recommendations on employment decisions (e.g., advancement, counseling, hiring, disciplinary action, termination).
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork and/or Redzone checks.
- Responsible for knowledge and accuracy of production standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
- Enforce all company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Rules and attend company-scheduled training.
- Report problems, hazards, concerns operator errors, and other issues to Production Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor as needed.
- Communicate effectively with others and manage an effective team.
- Perform work onsite.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is what you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Extensive supervisor experience with 4 years management experience in manufacturing.
- Prior Lean experience and a good understanding of how to lead Kaizen and 5’s events.
- Excellent supervisory, computer, and communication skills.
- Proven background in evaluation of personnel and capability of machinery.
- Proven ability to evaluate production processes and staffing needs for best results.
- Ability to coach leaders in following procedures and ensuring timely and efficient completion of objectives.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate skills to employees.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English competently.
- Ability to direct, communicate, delegate, problem solve, organize and prioritize.
- Ability to work independently, and promptly, and make accurate decisions.
- Ability to inspect work and make quality control decisions.
- Proven ability to follow safety, FDA/GMP/SOPS guidelines, and general employment rules and guidelines (including general work rules and attendance)
- Ability to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Previous liquid filling/packing experience (preferred).
- Advanced training in Quality Control Systems (preferred).
- Advanced Math (preferred).
- AS400 experience (preferred).
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, OSHA, and forklift (preferred).
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of FDA, OSHA, and GMP regulations (preferred).
