Position Summary:
The Controls and Documentation Engineer plays a key role in supporting engineering and operations teams by creating, organizing, and maintaining technical documentation while assisting in the development and optimization of control systems. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate documentation, compliance with industry standards, and continuous process improvement. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Controls Engineering
- Assist in the design, development, and optimization of control systems, ensuring systems are efficient, reliable, and meet performance standards.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot control system software and hardware, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and other automation tools, to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define control system requirements, specifications, and integration needs.
- Support system commissioning and operational testing to ensure control systems are fully functional and meet project specifications.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting support for control systems, ensuring uptime and minimizing operational disruptions.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to existing control systems, incorporating industry best practices, new technologies, and feedback from operations.
- Document control system designs, configuration changes, and maintenance procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date technical records.
- Maintain familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to control systems, ensuring compliance in all aspects of engineering work
Documentation Control
- Develop and organize all technical documentation, such as system specifications, schematics, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Maintain proper version control for all technical documentation, ensuring that updates are properly tracked and historical records are preserved for compliance purposes.
- Ensure that all documentation adheres to relevant industry standards, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining quality and consistency across all materials.
- Regularly audit documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance, and recommend improvements or corrections as needed to keep documentation up to date.
Other Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with engineering principles and technical documentation standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).
- Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
- Holds an associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Previous experience or coursework in engineering or documentation management is a plus.
- Interest in quality assurance, engineering processes, and technical standards.
- Availability to work full-time on-site
