Colby College’s Creative Writing Program is accepting applications for a writer in any genre with experience managing and editing an undergraduate literary magazine for the Jennifer Jahrling Forese Residency for 2025-2026.
Colby College’s Jennifer Jahrling Forese Residency is a year-long opportunity for a writer to work on a new project while contributing to Colby’s thriving literary community. The Program is seeking a writer with editing experience to join us for the academic year. We encourage writers working in all forms—poetry, nonfiction, and fiction—to apply.
Duties include teaching two classes, one in the fall and one in the spring, designed by the resident(s) in consultation with Program faculty; giving one public presentation of work-in-progress and one public lecture or workshop to a general audience; scheduling office hours; working with selected students one-on-one; and interacting with the broader Waterville community. In addition to a generous honorarium, Colby provides the writer-in-residence with housing in downtown Waterville and a generous stipend for expenses.
Qualifications
Qualifications: An MFA, terminal degree in a related field; at least one published book; and experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
