Colby-Sawyer College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 10-month full-time position of Athletic Trainer to work with our sports programs and within our well-established team of professionals and support personnel. This position assists the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and staff with the safety and welfare of the student-athletes, overseeing the prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, care and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions for student-athletes.
The team is seeking a fifth enthusiastic team member to continue to advance the mission of high-quality athletic healthcare and commitment to the physical, mental and emotional development of young adults. Recent investments in athletics have put the department and staff in a well-supported growth phase. In addition, there are two sites including the spacious and state of the art Stock Sports Medicine Clinic as the main clinical space and a new satellite clinic at the outdoor Kelsey Athletic fields. Responsibilities
- Provide direct student health care services to varsity student-athletes (and club sport athletes when appropriate, as outlined in the Club Sport Policy). Includes assessment of injuries and medical conditions, establishing plan of care, and providing rehabilitative and/or preventive treatment for future encounters.
- Provide athletic training services during scheduled varsity team practices and contests, including traveling with the teams, when appropriate.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend events throughout the academic year.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, faculty, parents, providers and others as necessary regarding the participation status of student-athletes.
- Administer pre-participation examinations for student-athletes.
- Perform required record keeping and documentation for designated student athletes in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)/Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
- Facilitate student-athlete referrals as needed on a case-by-case basis.
- Work collaboratively in creating and implementing policies and procedures for the effective operation of the sports medicine clinic.
- Evaluate and recommend new techniques or equipment that would enhance the benefit of the student-athletes and sports medicine clinic.
- Work collaboratively in the maintenance and upkeep of the sports medicine clinic.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner as a positive representative of oneself, the sports medicine clinic, the AT staff, and Colby-Sawyer College Athletics.
- Physical requirements include ability to perform athletic training functions described above.
