Job Title: Athletic Trainer
Reports To: Director of Health Services
Position Summary: Vermont Academy seeks a full-time certified, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable
Athletic Trainer to join our healthcare team. As a member of our Health Services and Athletic
Departments, the certified Athletic Trainer will assist the sports medicine team in the planning,
organization, direction, and execution of programs and procedures associated with the care and prevention of orthopedic injuries and management of other injuries and illnesses that impact our students’ health and wellness. Primary duties include supporting the school throughout the school year, including some school vacations and pre-season.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in establishing and enforcing departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide education and serve as a resource on injury/illness prevention and wellness.
- Assist in providing training for faculty and staff on campus emergency procedures.
- Provide comprehensive athletic training care to our student-athletes, including injury prevention,
evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care.
- Maintain respectful communication, within the limits of confidentiality, between coaches,
parents/guardians, medical professionals, Athletic Director, and nursing staff regarding student
health matters.
- Provide coverage for athletic contests, practice sessions, and Athletic Training clinic from the
beginning of the fall sports season to the end of the spring season.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of Athletic Training Clinic activities and pertinent
medical data.
- Assist in administering and reviewing our Concussion Care Program.
- Know rules, regulations, and best practices of sports governing bodies (ie NCAA, NFHS,
NEPSAC) and state statutes and maintain, review, and practice them to ensure compliance.

Education/Certifications and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
- BOC certified
- VT state Athletic Training licensure or ability to attain before August 2025
- CPR/AED/First Aid, instructor certification preferred
- Ideally 3-5 years of experience working with student athletes, college or high school athletic
training experience preferred
- Certification or strong background in strength and conditioning
- Candidates that can also teach science/health or humanities classes are preferred.
