Position Summary

The Farm Equipment Operator is responsible for loading and unloading sod, operating general farm equipment, and maintenance on a sod farm. This position is responsible for transporting loads safely and efficiently, in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities:

1. Position responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with loading and unloading of goods and materials, using specialized

Equipment when warranted,

• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it to achieve safety standards and requirements.
• Verifying loads for accuracy
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours and compliance with state and federal

regulatory requirements.

• Reporting any vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations as soon as they are known or as soon as possible.
• Ensuring that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
• Maintaining invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork
• Facilitating service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gas, or diesel levels and keeping accurate reports of maintenance malfunctions to report to management.
• Communicating and coordinating with dispatch and maintaining radio or telephone contact with dispatch or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The following education, skills and experience are required for this role:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 months of CDL A, driving experience.
• Attentive and hardworking
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow directions.

Environment

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, climb, and kneel and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally. This position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment. This position routinely uses heavy machinery and lawn tools. This position requires local, day travel.
