This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of sod and other materials. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining farm equipment, loading and unloading sod, and ensuring timely deliveries. Responsibilities
- Operate general farm equipment for loading and unloading sod and other materials.
- Secure and arrange cargo to meet safety standards and requirements.
- Verify load accuracy and maintain detailed logs of working hours.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations promptly.
- Ensure mechanical issues are resolved before operating vehicles.
- Maintain invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks, including oil, water, and fuel levels.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors to receive instructions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 18 months or more of CDL A driving experience.
- Attentive and hardworking with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions accurately.
Environment
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, climb, and kneel, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally. The role involves exposure to all weather conditions and physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt due to the equipment. The position requires local, day travel and routine use of heavy machinery and lawn tools.
