The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our practice, contributing to case preparation and client management.
Duties
- Assist attorneys with legal research, including utilizing tools such as Lexis-Nexis for case law and statutory research.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
- Transcribe legal documents and correspondence as required.
- Manage case files, including organizing documents and maintaining electronic filing systems.
- Conduct project management tasks to ensure timely completion of legal projects.
- Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates on case status.
- Coordinate meetings, depositions, and court appearances for attorneys.
Experience
The successful candidate should have a background in law or a related field with experience in the following areas considered an asset:
- Proficiency in PCLaw or similar legal management software.
- Familiarity with various areas of law.
- Experience in project management within a legal context is preferred.
- A proactive approach to learning new skills related to the legal profession is essential.
