SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and suppliers. Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. The buyer will be responsible for monitoring levels of packaging and raw material, to ensure materials are on site to keep production running smoothly. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Monitoring inventory levels of packaging and raw material available for production.
• Understand and maintain the minimum necessary raw materials inventory and report on the status of inventory levels against inventory targets.
• Create purchase orders from approved suppliers for raw materials and packaging. 
• Responsible for coordinating with Director of SIOP on production demand to ensure satisfactory levels of packaging for production.
• Maintain accurate item master data lead times, unit and pallets size, and minimum/maximum stock levels.
• Maintain supplier performance tracking to include on-time performance and quality issues.
• Receive Purchase orders into system.
• Coordinate transfers between offsite storage in both the Muskegon and North Liberty plants.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and at least 5 years of experience in purchasing/materials management. 
• Previous experience in a purchasing or administrative role is advantageous
• Must understand inventory control and purchasing processes. 
• Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must have strong problem-solving skills while being flexible with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function within a strong team environment.
