Summary: Radiologic Technologists perform a full range of radiology tests to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and the accuracy of test results and reporting findings to physicians in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. They promote and provide compassionate and quality patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to radiology's quality control requirements on all patients testing to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in various committees, meetings, in-service training as required.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and report any problems to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain acceptable standards of patient treatment.
- Perform radiological exams on patients in a timely and professional manner.
- Acknowledge and address diverse patient needs including ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile individuals within the facility.
- Implement provider orders accurately and promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality of hospital and patient information while ensuring a safe patient environment.
- Main work area clean and organized.
- Maintain certifications and continuing education requirements necessary for job performance.
- Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned, requested, or required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable about radiology policy and procedures for processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Understand radiology quality control policies.
- Familiar with state and federal regulations governing radiology.
- Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in communications.
- Familiar with imaging creation and archival - X-Ray and ultrasound equipment.
- Comprehend policies and procedures regarding protected health information (PHI) release.
Education and/or Experience:
- Completion of a 2-year Radiology Certification Program
- Preferred: 2-year diagnostic radiology experience
- Preferred: 2 years of experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Language/Reading Skills:
- Communicate verbally and in writing in English; legible handwriting is required.
Mathematical Skills:
- Brief statistical concepts
- Geometry, Algebra, Increment Conversions, Formulas, and Fractions
Reasoning Ability: Respond to common problems/situations with existing standards, procedures, and precedents.
Work Environment: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs, possess ability to handle/finger objects, tools or controls, reach with hands/arms. Must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist level. Close vision and clear focus are necessary specific vision abilities.
