What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Collabera?
Pay Range: $60/hr-$70/hr
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Develop and document accounting policies and business processes related to content transactions.
- Manage the monthly and year-end close processes for content accounting, including supporting external audits.
- Collaborate with contract management and financial compliance teams to maintain the content ledger and ensure accuracy.
- Analyze content agreements (e.g., licensing, co-productions) to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare and post journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and perform statement analysis for content-related accounts.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Present financial reports and analyses to management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for content accounting, media, or entertainment industry experience. (Minimum 10 years, ideally 10-12)
- Solid understanding of content assets and liabilities accounting (e.g., capitalization, amortization, royalties, and licensing deals).
- CPA (active or inactive) or significant public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with accounting ERP systems
- Strong leadership/management background and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience with data cleanup and management.
