Facility Overview:
At Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility, we are committed to serving as a community resource, providing the highest quality of mental health services. Currently, Ocean View operates as an adult 39-bed voluntary acute in-patient facility, offering private rooms and individualized care through a multi-disciplinary approach focusing on compassionate care and best practices. We also provide Intensive Outpatient and Partial hospitalization services to ensure a continuum of care after acute stabilization. We are currently in the process of expanding our Long Beach facility to 80 beds, offering a locked facility setting for those who meet intensive mental health criteria. Additionally, our expansion plans to other areas are progressing rapidly, and we anticipate that our Colton Location in San Bernadino County, will be operational by 2025.
Business Development Specialist Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Director of Business Development, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for educating the community about the services offered, admissions process, and criteria for admissions at Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility. The Business Development Specialist assists with navigating new and returning patients throughout the admission process, while coordinating with the intake team. This includes gathering patient demographics, coordinating transportation, and interacting with potential patients to discuss willingness to receive inpatient care. Additionally, this position will act as the representative for the hospital at community events, conferences, and special events. Event planning and coordination of networking opportunities also fall under the purview of this position.
The Business Development Specialist duties include:
· Participates in the design and implementation of monthly, seasonal, and annual strategies to enhance census development and evaluate results correspondingly.
· Maintains a schedule of current account information of primary sources including addiction treatment programs, mental health treatment programs, sober livings, interventionists, EAPs, unions, hospitals/ERs, physicians/licensed practitioners, and allied health professionals. Reports accounts and contacts weekly to Director.
· Develops and maintains new account relationships and markets. Targets and creates new strategies for increasing business in highly competitive markets.
· Develops strong relationships with key referral sources. Establishes and sustains a professional rapport with physicians, clinicians, community/professional organizations, and other health / human services providers. Responds to all business development opportunities.
· Conducts community workshops, events, and facility tours to educates clients, families, community and other referral sources on programs, services and amenities provided by Ocean View.
· Maintains business development referral/admission records and statistics. Prepares and presents industry trends, additional referral opportunities and obstacles to retention and growth.
· Represents the facility at civic and professional functions and communicates mission in all outreach interactions. Acts a liaison between the facility, referral sources and the public to further the goals and professional image of Ocean View.
· Collaborates closely with facility discharge planners, social workers, case managers, physicians and management, as well as provides education to external staff to generate referral sources.
· Builds strong collaborative relationship with admissions/intake to manage leads from referral sources ensuring efficient admissions process for clients.

Minimum Qualifications:
· 3 years working in Business Development role in healthcare, preferably, acute psychiatric level of care.
· Strong interpersonal communication skills and well developed, effective relational skills.
· Ability to create and develop referral sources.
· Knowledge of commercial insurance nuances as related to behavioral health treatment.
· Good understanding of the local market and referral base.
· Ability to effectively manage time and resources to cover an expansive service area (Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties).Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
This is a remote position requiring significant driving both locally and regionally. This position requires the ability to communicate and interact with patients over the telephone and in personwho may be suffering from mental health and/or behavioral health conditions. Ability to work under stressful conditions, interactions, and competing priorities is a must.
