CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a full-time Regional Coordinator of Veteran Services. Under the Director of Veterans, the Regional Coordinator is responsible for managing the DCA BVH program for its region including eligibility determination, document access, support in housing, and connectivity to HUD VASH opportunity. This role requires a deep understanding of veterans' needs, government policies, and the ability to coordinate and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that veterans receive the necessary support and resources.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Assist BVH participants in completing their HUD VASH voucher applications, including obtaining documents (i.e., IDs, birth certificates, social security cards, proof of veteran or homeless status, and documentation.
- Builds relationships with local veteran organizations, community centers, healthcare providers, employers, and government agencies to promote veteran services and access points.
- Support and encourage community integration, including access to education, employment, and other needed community services and resources. Conduct active follow-up with residents and community resources until service linkage is complete.
- Understands the principle of providing permanent housing to individuals experiencing homelessness without preconditions.
Full-time | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays
Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience with veterans and supervisory role.
- Knowledge of HMIS software a plus!
- Strong understanding of Housing First principles and harm reduction philosophy.
- Knowledge of veterans' services admin processes, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Experience with veteran-specific services or programs, such as HUD-VASH or VA resources, is highly preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate and relate to a diverse population in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work with persons with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
- Computer proficiency, Microsoft Office and online research databases.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.
