POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our engineering department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations of our resort, ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards. This role will involve managing a team of maintenance staff, collaborating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering team, providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure all staff are well-trained and motivated.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for all hotel facilities, including a seasonal outdoor pool, three restaurants, six guest houses, and employee housing structures.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components, ensuring they meet the highest safety and operational standards.
- Collaborate with department heads to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize disruptions to guest services and restaurant operations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, environmental standards, and building codes.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property, including guest houses and employee housing, to assess maintenance needs, identify areas for improvement, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Manage the engineering budget, including cost forecasting, tracking expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing effective solutions to minimize impact on guests and operations.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in engineering practices, implementing innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Additional Duties
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair projects, ensuring quality control and adherence to timelines.
- Oversee the maintenance of outdoor spaces, including landscaping and pool facilities, ensuring they are well-kept and safe for guest use.
- Develop training programs for the engineering staff focused on new technologies, safety practices, and guest service excellence.
- Assist in the planning and execution of facility upgrades and renovations, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and operations.
- Participate in regular meetings with the management team to discuss operational challenges, improvements, and strategic planning for facility enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
