The College of Lake County is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to develop and execute effective talent acquisition strategies addressing current/future hiring needs for the College. You’ll be responsible for ensuring a great experience for candidates, hiring teams, and managers by executing a clear and consistent process for all participants.
In this role, you will develop a proactive and strategic approach for building talent pipelines by utilizing diverse sourcing strategies. The Talent Acquisition Specialist develops and executes recruiting plans to fill various full-time and part-time staff, adjunct faculty and part-time flex position vacancies, seeking diverse pools of candidates that support the College’s values and mission.
Develop robust recruiting plans to attract highly qualified and diverse candidates; and establish strong working relationships with hiring managers to gain an in-depth understanding of their requirements. Develops applicant sources, networks through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees. Maintains related recruitment records and costs, and assists with other related reporting.
The successful candidate will handle multiple requisitions at a time and demonstrates multitasking and technology savvy skills; demonstrates a professional manner and knowledge in recruiting and HR best practices. This position also assists with new employee orientation and onboarding.
Interviews will begin immediately and continue until this position is filled.
Department Operations & Procedures: 70%
1) Develop and execute recruiting plans to fill various full-time and part-time staff, faculty, union and non-union position vacancies; studies the College’s plans and objectives; and meets with hiring managers to discuss needs.
2) Source active and passive applicants and build talent pools using agile recruitment strategies including but not limited to social media, online platforms, direct industry outreach and community outreach.
3) Partnering with hiring managers to set up job descriptions in the applicant tracking system and determine advertising strategies.
4) Evaluates applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers.
5) Pre-screen applications, identify and conduct intake phone interviews as needed for qualified potential applicants, and ensure all talent pool standards are met.
Student & Customer Service Excellence: 15%
1) Provide high-level of customer service and professionalism by serving as liaison with other college departments and outside agencies.
2) Collaborate with other departments to ensure a high-quality recruitment and onboarding experience.
3) Monitor industry trends for talent acquisition best practices; adjust strategies and provide updates to HR colleagues and hiring managers.
4) Conduct applicant tracking system training (Workday) for new and current users.
5) Served as a representative in a variety of job fairs and networking events to increase awareness of employment opportunities.
6) Participate in New Employee Orientation and onboarding.
Project Leadership: 10%
1) Work with applicant tracking system and department staff to maintain system requirements.
2) Prepares reports and analyzes data against key performance indicators such as days to offer, days to fill and applicant conversion to hire.
Other: 5 %
1) Participate in strategic and/or functional cross-departmental teams, committees and councils at the request of the Talent Acquisition Manager.
2) Participate in professional associations/organizations and educational activities that enhance human resources competencies, knowledge, business and interpersonal skills. Remain knowledgeable of current state and federal laws, regulations and HR trends.
3) Perform any and all other duties assigned that support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of College of Lake County and goals of the Human Resources department.
Required Qualification(s)
- Bachelor’s plus a minimum of one (1) year work experience in human resources, student recruiting, business, marketing, sales, advertising, staffing agency, career placement or comparable field; OR an Associate’s degree plus a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in human resources, student recruiting, business, marketing, sales, advertising, staffing agency, career placement or comparable field.
- Ability to utilize computer technology such as an applicant tracking system (Workday or comparable), and/or integrated employee database (Workday or comparable).
- Results driven approach with demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a high-volume environment and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Relationship driven and passionate about candidate experience. A collaborative work style and ability to communicate and work effectively across departments.
- Strong analytical skills with the demonstrable experience driving process improvement through innovative best practices, metrics, techniques/technology, and industry trends.
- Ability to support of diversity initiatives along with the College’s mission, vision, values and goals.
Desired Qualification(s)
- One or more years successful professional experience as a talent acquisition recruiter.
- Human resources experience with a higher education institution, ideally in a community college.
- Experience using social media in recruiting and building employer brand.
- SHRM-CP or HRCI-PHR Professional Certification
- Bilingual Spanish
