Noncredit - Addiction and Substance Abuse Instructor for Rising Scholars

We are now accepting applications for the Noncredit Instructor Applicant Pool. Noncredit instructor pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments. The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. College of the Canyons began offering face-to-face courses to our justice-involved (Rising Scholars) students in the Fall semester of 2015, with the passing of Senate Bill 1391.

Courses will be taught onsite at Pitchess Detention Center (P.D.C.) and/or the Century Regional Detention Facility (C.R.D.F.).Â

Must be available to teach Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. onsite at the assigned location(s).College of the Canyons is seeking noncredit instructor faculty members in Noncredit - Addition & Substance Abuse (Rising Scholars). Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in the appropriate discipline;

OR - Master's degree in counseling, psychology or sociology

OR - Bachelor's degree; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught

OR - Associate degree; and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught

OR - Bachelors or Associates in Addiction Paraprofessional Training

OR - Bachelor's degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, dietetics, or nutrition; or an associate degree in any of those subjects, and four years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught.

• Professional experience includes work/occupational and or teaching experience. Occupational (work) experience does NOT include teaching experience. Part-time experience within each category (Professional or Occupational) will be calculated toward the total required years of full-time equivalent experience in that particular category.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Adjunct Noncredit Salary Schedule 8 Rate: Starting at $54.95 per hour. (Link to Academic Noncredit Adjunct Salary Schedule).

Positions are open until filled. The above position represents the anticipated need for the upcoming semester(s) or the applicant pool.
