Class Summary
College of the Mainland is seeking a coordinator/faculty member who will provide development and instruction for the Associate degree program in Instrumentation and Electrical. Hired candidate will develop, revise, and evaluate the curriculum for the Instrumentation and Electrical programs. Experience with Instrumentation and electrical installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of instruments and control systems is required. Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation and maintain open and consistent communications with students. Attend Department meetings, participate in compulsory College training and professional development, and serve on college committees as needed and assigned. Participate in student recruiting, advisement, and mentoring activities as required and assigned.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience
Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology or a closely related field and three (3) years of industry-related work experience OR experience in the field can be considered in leu of education.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Experience in Electrical and instrumentation desirable.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills
1. Prepare, develop, and revise curriculum and coursework.
2. Meet classes as scheduled.
3. Complete all instruction-related paperwork (e.g., textbook requests, incomplete grade contracts, etc.) in a timely fashion, i.e., by the deadline given by the supervisor.
4. Define and practice a clear communication policy with students (i.e., maintain office hours for student consultation and return student emails and phone calls).
5. Serve on committees as needed and assigned.
6. Participate in student advisement and mentoring activities as needed and assigned.
7. Adhere to the college academic calendar (e.g., concerning submission of grades, attendance at mandatory events, and required contact hours in courses taught).
8. Other duties as appropriate to the position.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Previous curriculum development experience.

  • Principles and practices of teaching.

  • Prepare and revise curriculum and coursework.

  • Meet classes as scheduled.

  • Detailed knowledge of the material taught in the specific course and program area.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a diverse, multicultural college community.

  • Basic computer literacy sufficient to perform job duties

  • Knowledge of student engagement techniques, learning styles, retention strategies, and learning-centered philosophy

  • Experience with or willingness to learn the latest teaching/learning technologies and online instruction

  • Record-keeping procedures

  • Development of industry-specific advisory committee

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
