This position is assigned to the Asset Management and GIS Section of the Operations Support Division, Transportation Management Services Department (TMSD). The purpose of this classification is to provide general GIS support to the TMSD. Responsibilities include but not limited to updating and maintaining ArcGIS geodatabases, maps, geometric networks, digitizing from as-builts, Arc Collector, GIS Online, GIS Portal, and GIS data field collection.

Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Verifies accuracy of GIS information for use by the TMSD; verifies accuracy of legal descriptions, zoning and site plans, or surveys from computer records; acquires and maintains the GIS database for TMSD.• Maintains and updates GIS database; maintains index of GIS updates in Division; operates and maintains a Trimble Pro XRS GPS; ability to maintain a database of GPS co-ordinates using Path Finder Office software.• Ability to read, understand and communicate the meaning of engineering/construction drawings and as-built drawings.• Receives and responds to special requests for GIS information from Division/Department staff.• Prepares/submits reports of projects and work activities; maintains records of time spent on each project for billing purposes.• Delivers GIS data and other detailed reports to County Divisions or other locations; obtains proper approval/signature for release of GIS information prior to distribution from or throughout the department.• Provides assistance and information related to department GIS activities; responds to routine questions/complaints and initiates problem resolution.• Maintain and utilize Arc Collector, as well as with office duties during clerical staff absences.• Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, engineers, surveyors, realtors, customers, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.• Attends meetings or serves on committees as needed.• Maintains an awareness of new technologies, methods, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.• Assists other Divisions with emergency shut down situations; assist with stake and locates in the field as well as with office duties during clerical staff absences.• Performs other related duties as required.
