Reports To: Building Principal  

Pay Grade: Grade 3, Step 1, $16.19 per hour

Schedule: 4 hours per day / 5 days per week / 20 hours per week

 

Job Summary: The Instructional Paraprofessional is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational programming for students. The Instructional Paraprofessional will provide in-classroom or online instructional support in English language arts or mathematics for K-6 students as directed by teacher and/or principal.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 60 college credit hours; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; or Workkeys certification
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to different instructional environments including in-person, online, and independent small group
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills
  • Experience working with elementary school age youth
  • Experience with reading, mathematics, or behavior intervention support
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and online learning software

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide in-classroom or online instructional support in English language arts or mathematics for K-6 students as directed by teacher and/or principal
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, schools, teachers and classrooms
  • Following initial training, administer EL screening assessments (W-APT or WIDA Screener) to students as directed by the EL Instructional Coach or EL cluster teacher and assist classroom teachers with the administration of NWEA MAP assessments
  • Provide outside-classroom instructional support in reading and writing for K-6 students using district-approved evidence-based resources such as the Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention program
  • Implement social-emotional learning strategies (e.g., Positive Behavior intervention plans, Restorative Practices) for K-6 students as directed by counselor or principal
  • Observe, document and communicate student progress as requested with classroom teacher and/or principal
  • Attend staff data meetings and professional learning as requested
  • Consistent and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

 

Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.

In accordance with the Administrative Support Staff Agreement
