Summary of Position:
Work with all members of the QA team to acquire various technical knowledge of C&J projects and customers. Aid QA Engineer II by planning and performing fabrication and welding inspections, FARO Laser Tracker inspections, pre-ship out inspections etc. Compile professional documentation of inspections.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineer I Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned per the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Quality Assurance Manager)
- Basic
professional written and spoken correspondence.
o Adhere to all company policy including safety, HR, etc.
o Accomplish these requirements in a way that sets forth an example for all other
employees. Uphold general management responsibility of properly reporting and/or
mitigating unprofessional, unsafe, or other behavior which infringes upon Collins &
Jewell policy.
o Understand and observe the Collins & Jewell chain of command.
- Project Responsibilities
after receipt of a purchase order.
o Aid in collection of specification package including customer purchase orders, standard
clauses, and references invoked by the PO.
o Learn and understand contract requirements and Collins & Jewell resources, capabilities,
preferences, and procedures.
o Attend job review meetings to gather information and awareness of current projects.
o Attend project meetings and generate notes which demonstrate technical comprehension.
o Generate technically accurate action items from meetings and track their status to
completion.
o Produce inspection and testing documents (dimensional, welding, load testing etc.) using
SolidWorks Inspection, Excel etc.
o Generate and manage customer correspondence or electronic communications.
o Conduct shop-floor inspections of fabrication using various metrology tools.
o Conduct shop-floor inspections of welding using various weld inspection tools.
o Aid in FARO Laser Tracker inspections
o Aid in final inspection/pre-ship out inspections of customer product.
o Help create formal job documentation for delivery to the customer.
o Review drafting and purchasing documents for accuracy and fulfillment of job
requirements

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred, but not required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge (or demonstrated ability and willingness to gain such knowledge) of industry
welding, structural steel design, fabrication, inspection, recognized quality system standards,
inspection methods and equipment, coatings, fastening, rigging and installation and safety.
- Must be able to communicate succinctly with professionalism and clarity in both verbal & written
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) is required.
