What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at Coln Construction?
Coln Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our team. This role is a vital part of ensuring the success of our custom luxury home building projects, working primarily on-site to oversee day-to-day activities, and support the Project Manager and Project Coordinator in delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:

Project Support and Communication
- Assist the Senior Project Manager and Project Coordinator in managing field activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and specifications.
- Track progress against project schedules and report updates to the project team.
- Assist with scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field progress.
- Document daily logs and upload job site pictures in the company’s building software to show clients’ the jobsite progress.
- This is an on-site position that will require the individual to drive to different job sites as needed daily.

Material Management
- Make regular trips to Home Depot, Lowe’s, lumber yards, or other vendors to pick up necessary materials.
- Coordinate and set up material returns as needed to optimize site organization.
- Receive material orders on-site from vendors, verify the order’s accuracy and check the quality of materials received.

Job Site Maintenance & Safety
- Lock and clean up houses daily to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Ensure all materials on-site are organized, covered and properly stored to prevent damage.
- Monitor and maintain the job site’s dumpster and portable restroom services.
- Monitor job site safety practices and compliance with OSHA and Coln Construction standards.
- Install and maintain site protection as required for different construction phases.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience
- High school diploma
- Previous experience in residential construction or similar environment is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable means of transportation for site and material trips.

Skills
- Understanding of construction processes, materials, and safety standards.
- Experience with or ability to learn project management software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and subcontractors.
- Self-motivated and able to manage daily responsibilities independently.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
