The Regional Driver Training Manager (RDTM) is responsible for coaching and mentoring Regional Driver Trainers, managing training operations, and ensuring clear expectations for drivers to enhance safety and success. The RDTM removes obstacles, fosters urgency in problem-solving, and provides consistent training across transportation services.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop & Implement Training: Establish onboarding and ongoing education programs to promote safety and operational excellence for all drivers.
- Oversee Training Operations: Supervise Regional Driver Trainers and ensure compliance with training standards.
- Compliance & Audits: Work with Terminal Managers to complete asset gate checks, conduct site audits, and maintain training records.
- Incident Investigation & Risk Mitigation: Analyze accidents and incidents to develop corrective actions and promote a “zero” incident culture.
- Driver Coaching & Mentorship: Utilize ELD and safety management systems to mentor drivers and enforce safety standards.
- Delivery Standards & CDL Training: Ensure compliance with service expectations, oversee the Smith Driving System program, and manage the company’s CDL training program.
- Collaboration & Accountability: Communicate effectively across all organizational levels and enforce driver accountability guidelines.
- Other Responsibilities: Handle additional tasks assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in petroleum transportation, terminal dispatch, logistics, or trucking operations.
- Possesses excellent reading, writing, and communication skills in the English language.
- Proficiency in computer operations, including Word, Excel, email, data entry, and office equipment.
- Highly detail-oriented, with a strong ability to follow established procedures to maintain accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Strong communications skills to professionally engage with third-party carriers and internal teams.
