Who We Are

Founded in 1926, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, not-for-profit educational, historic, and cultural institution that owns and operates one of the largest and best-known museum complexes in the world. Today, Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living history museum in the U.S. The Historic Area is the 301-acre restored colonial capital with 88 original buildings and 525 buildings reconstructed to how they appeared in the 18th century through extensive archaeological, architectural, and documentary research. The Historic Area is staffed by highly trained, historically dressed interpreters and expert tradespeople who bring the 18th century to life. The Foundation also owns and operates two world-class museums, the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and a renowned research library, the John D Rockefeller Jr Library. Additionally, Colonial Williamsburg is home to five world class accommodations at the Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge Autograph Collection, the Griffin Hotel, the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotels and Suites and the unique Colonial Houses in the Historical Area. Visitors may also indulge in food and drink at our many on site restaurants and taverns that blend a historically inspired dining experience with today’s evolved tastes. Each year over 5 million people visit Williamsburg and another 20 million engage with us digitally.

About the Position

The Foundation Marketing & Outreach Coordinator will provide administrative, operational and logistical support to the Foundation Marketing & Outreach and Colonial Williamsburg Innovation Studios teams.

Responsibilities include scheduling and corresponding with colleagues across the Foundation as it relates to promotional or digital needs, project planning and management. This position will also assist in overseeing the day-to-day expenses related to the Educational Outreach & Communications budget including entering of purchase orders and other administrative operations, fiscal reconciliation, budget projections, invoice processing, and contract management. This position will also assist in the management of the CWIS budget to include purchase orders, administrative operations, invoice processing and contract management.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide logistical support to Foundation Marketing & Outreach and Colonial Williamsburg Innovation Studios (CWIS) teams to include scheduling, coordination of assets, and project management timelines.
  • Oversee day-to-day administration of the Foundation Marketing & Outreach budget to include entering purchase orders, invoice processing, and contract timelines, as well as working with Director of Foundation Marketing & Communications on budget projections, forecasting, and fiscal reconciliations.
  • Copy editing and image selection for peer-entered events via the Events Management System, ensuring adherence to timelines, SEO optimization, and brand style.
  • Assist Marketing Managers in the production of collateral supporting on- and off-site experiences and activations to include programs, brochures, flyers, signage, etc.
  • Assist Foundation Marketing & Outreach and CWIS teams with content development to include creating content for web, social, and email, maintaining brand awareness on partnership websites, onsite collateral, and guest orientation both onsite and online.
  • Work with Foundation Marketing & Outreach and CWIS teams to ensure contract deliverables, efficient timelines, and status.
    updates from third party vendors and/or agencies.
  • Facilitate collection and delivery of brand creative assets to include photo and video assets as well as print and digital collateral.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required and Preferred Education and Experience:


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a marketing, communications, or business-related field.
  • Superior attention to detail. Exceptional writing abilities and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with creative platforms such as Canva, YouTube, and Adobe creative suite.


Preferred:

  • Functional knowledge of SEO/SEM best practices.
  • Background and interest in U.S. history

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, high-volume communications, marketing, or public relations function with strong cross functional partnership experience and knowledge of digital marketing and communications best practices.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Driven to meet deadlines.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, critical thinking, flexibility and initiative.
