Our IR Apprentices work closely with Technicians to perform maintenance and repair operations pertaining to large, complex industrial cooling/refrigeration systems and associated control systems. A day in the life:
- Work with an experienced technician to learn the IR business
- Diagnose causes of equipment breakdowns
- Test parts with appropriate instruments
- Disassemble and assemble parts
- Make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components
- Develop expertise of evaporative condensers, large control systems, complex conventional electrical controls and Industrial Refrigeration Systems (ammonia, cascade and rack systems with the ability to rebuild commercial/industrial compressors)
You should have:
- Experience working in HVAC service
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration (preferred, but not required)
- Ability and willingness to learn the industrial refrigeration business
- Willingness to travel to a variety of customer sites
- Possess electrical and controls knowledge and experience relative to industrial or nuclear equipment
- Completion, or in the process of completing, applicable trade school (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to work in hot/cold environments
- Ability to work closely with technician when needed and also without direct supervision at times
- Must have a clean driving record and able to pass a drug screen and background check
