Job Description
- Work with all shipyard superintendents/project managers to gather SOW, information, drawings and or sketches for machine shop.
- Produce sketches, reverse engineer from parts when needed.
- Gather any and all measurements needed for shipyard related work using competent machinists.
- Work with IMS to schedule CSI projects with machine shop IMS project managers and with IMS shop supervisor/s when needed – need realistic completion dates from CSI.
- Source and order shipyard related materials when needed.
- Assist superintendents with pricing work as needed.
- Write condition reports as needed.
- Arrange inspections and check points.
- Keep PCP and TIP plans updated when needed or required.
- Attend daily morning shipyard production meetings.
- Assist with tool research when needed, find suitable vendors for tooling purchases.
- Schedule/attend cross-functional meetings to facilitate collaboration when needed.
- Must have regular, reliable attendance.
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in the following: heavy industrial/marine machining functions and construction, project management, planning, estimating, or other relevant experience.
- Must be able to exercise independent judgment with an ability to anticipate production issues in advance.
- Must have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively with management.
- Must have strong attention to detail and precise documentation.
- Must possess general knowledge in welding, fitting and burning processes, coatings (marine and structural) processes, construction manufacturing processes, materials and costing methods.
- Must have experience in computerized estimating, planning, and charting systems.
- Must have working knowledge of engineering and design concepts.
- Must have strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong mathematical skills and ability.
- Previous experience at Colonna’s or Steel America highly preferred.
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
- Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment.
- General shipyard/industrial environment. this type of work has physical demands that require frequent movement up to 65% of the time.
- Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there is minimal exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Hear, talk, and smell.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available, but also requires safe navigation and regular partnership with operations teams within shipyard/industrial environments.
- A considerable amount of time is spent operating a personal computer.
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs and spend time moving throughout the facility and onboard marine vessels.
