What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable Manager position at Colony Hardware Corporation?
Reporting to the Director of Accounting Operations (DAO), the Accounts Receivable (A/R) Manager is a strategic leadership position responsible for managing all Colony Hardware accounts receivable processes and overseeing the function. This individual will ensure accurate transactional reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the optimization and enhancement of internal processes. The A/R Manager will work cross-functionally to drive financial integrity, operational excellence, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Lead the credit and collections team (~20 individuals) in a rapidly growing business environment by directing and developing the implementation of credit and collection standard policies and processes
- Promote transactional efficiencies with accuracy and positivity
- Partner with the Commercial Team to effectively manage each customer
- Design and implement processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables
- Create functional strategies and objectives for the credit and finance department to ensure effective operation of the department
- Implement and reinforce the Corporate Credit and Collection Policies
- Handle all client relationships by consulting and acting as company liaison
- Analyze and determine credit lines for all new accounts via credit reports and credit references for new account set-up
- Negotiate payment terms with delinquent accounts and offer collection solutions and potential 3rd party actions
- Reconcile account transactions, initiate credits and adjustments to customer accounts within policy limits
- Lead weekly collection cadence with team and DAO
- Prepare quarterly bad debt reserve for DAO and CFO approval
- Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation including conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, and participating in onboarding activities
- Manage customer credit and invoice workflows
- Build and optimize key customer relationships
Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Partner with the DAO to develop and execute customer management strategies that support business growth.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to receivable teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions as needed.
- Lead & execute strategic projects as identified.
- Establish effective communication cadence both internally and externally.
What You’ll Need to Have for success:
Requirements
- College Degree in Finance or Business
- 8 years of experience in managerial or directorial positions
- 8 years of experience in Credit/Collections positions
- Experience in process improvement and ERP systems
- Computer skills, including Outlook and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage cross-functional projects, and drive operational efficiencies
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in distribution and manufacturing
- Knowledge of lien and state compliance laws
- Experience working with private equity or investor relations
