Organization Overview

The Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR) and COLOR Action Fund is the only Latina-led and serving, multi-entity, Reproductive Justice non-profit organization in Colorado that works to enable Latine individuals and their families to lead safe, healthy, and self-determined lives by accessing opportunities and resources for the health of mind, body, and spirit; and by holding elected officials accountable to our issues and electing people who support our mission.

We value justice and equity for all people by creating awareness of intersectionality and the ways it is used to either support or marginalize our community. Position Summary

The Managing Director will play a critical role in the impact of COLOR and COLOR AF’s work and the internal health and sustainability of the organization. The Managing Director will work very closely with the President & CEO to carry forth the mission and vision and problem-solve with leadership. This includes owning the strategic planning process, supporting budget management, sustaining a healthy organization, and achieving the external impact to accomplish the mission of the organization.

The Managing Director will ensure that all staff members of COLOR and COLOR Action Fund have the support, oversight, and resources they need to meet the organization's goals. In collaboration with staff, this role will also help create and maintain a thriving, healthy, and sustainable organizational culture rooted in resiliency and rejuvenation.

Managing Director Responsibilities

  • ORGANIZATION ALIGNMENT
  • Work with the President & CEO and the leadership team to implement and align the strategy of COLOR and COLOR Action Fund.
  • Serve as an advisor and thought partner to the President & CEO to ensure the staff is aligned on the vision and strategic plans.
  • Lead the organization through a work planning process that focuses on seeing the full vision and priorities of the organization.
  • Develop tools for accountability to ensure work is advancing and holds the team to a high standard of excellence while remaining nimble and centering the values of the organization.
  • Create systems, practices, and tools to equip the staff to engage in a work planning process that is collaborative, integrated, mindful of capacity, and adjustable to changing circumstances.
  • MANAGEMENT AND STAFF SUPPORT
  • Serve as an anchor to the President & CEO and leadership team to support all staff with any personnel issues, working to address and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Manage the leadership team and offer support to manage their teams more effectively.
  • Manage the operations manager and support in the development of internal systems and practices and external consultants / firms.
  • Develop communication practices amongst the staff that are equitable and clear.
  • Provide support in managing outside consultants or external relationships as needed.

  • Maintain an organizational culture that centers results, equity, and wellness, addresses changing cultural needs, and prioritizes restorative justice and resolution.
  • Incorporate an understanding of power, privilege, and oppression and the intersections of racial, social, gender, and economic justice values into the work and relationships with people.
  • Support in strengthening of staff capacity by ensuring resources are disseminated equitably and strategically.
  • Hold the overall vision and direction of the Resiliency and Renewal work of the organization.
  • Ensure all systems and practices are aligned with the values of the organization.
  • Guide standards and practices for effective organization-wide communication amongst all staff.

Candidate Must Be A Leader Who Is

  • Passionate about COLOR’s mission and the intersections of reproductive justice and its impact.
  • Committed to building authentic relationships with the staff, the board of directors, funders, and community partners across identities, and prioritizes and values building relationships.
  • Approaches management in a non-hierarchical way, can work with people of different backgrounds, identities, skills and personalities, and is driven by a non-judgemental, people-centered style of management.
  • Strong management experience, ability to manage collaborative teams to be impactful and results-driven with a sustainable and equitable approach.
  • Reliable, self-driven, and motivated to get things done with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Nimble and innovative, who can think outside the box and bring an optimistic can-do approach to the work to make the most with the resources available.
  • Embraces challenges with a problem-solving mindset, emotional intelligence, and curiosity.
  • Self aware with strong communication skills, is willing to listen and learn from others, and communicates with diplomacy.
  • Open to not always having the answers and comfortable leaning on others for support.
  • Committed to racial, social, gender, and economic justice and dismantling systems of oppression.
  • Additional Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Managing Director or similar experience.
  • Understanding of 501c3 and 501c4 status operations and compliance.
  • Though not required, experience with oversight of financials and managing budgets.
  • Background working directly with impacted communities or direct organizing.
  • Compensation

    This position is full-time with a salary range of $87,000- $91,000. Benefits package include : paid vacation, health time and holidays, paid health insurance, dental, disability, and life insurance with annual stipends for self-care and community care, professional development funds, and monthly cell phone / internet stipends. After three months of employment, staff are eligible for a 3% retirement match.
