The Colorado Academy Athletics Department seeks candidates for a Sports Performance Fellowship. The opportunity is to be a part-time member of the athletics staff for an entire academic year (August 1– June 1). 1000 hours max.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Responsibilities include oversight of middle and upper school morning and afternoon training sessions Fellows will be required to meet with full time staff members on a weekly/bi-weekly basis for programming reviews, coaching development, and overall mentorship.
Additional opportunities include working sports camps for CA teams. Fellows will have the opportunity to gain experience coaching at the high school level. The successful candidate will have broad experience instructing student athletes and working with team coaches and the sports medicine staff in designing and implementing year round performance enhancement programs.
This is a part-time one-year assignment, with a hiring period to occur annually in May-June.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct support to the Director of Sports Performance with: teaching, planning and directing all aspects of the Strength and Conditioning program.
- Teach the philosophy and techniques of strength and conditioning to student athletes from various programs, as assigned.
- Assist the Director of Sports Performance and various coaches with instructing student athletes on the foundations of a healthy, nutritional lifestyle.
- Have a working knowledge of and be able to teach and critique performance enhancement theories and techniques (in the education of strength, power and conditioning, nutrition, speed, quickness and agility).
- Perform duties associated with maintenance and oversight of Bansbach S&C facility.
- Provide nutritional education resources to individual student-athletes and teams as directed.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of CA, including the Employee Handbook and Athletic Department Handbook.
- Participate in all mandatory training as deemed necessary by CA administration and direct supervisors
- Educate and mentor temp-staff members, student interns, and student volunteers as directed.
- Educate student-athletes in the area of strength and conditioning as assigned to include, but not limited to: design and implement strength and conditioning programs; provide instruction on proper lifting techniques for injury prevention.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
- 2 internships at the Division 1 level or 2 years of related experience at the Division 1 level.
- Candidates must maintain and provide proof of appropriate NSCA and/or CSCCa and CPR certification.
- Minimum1 year of collegiate experience in strength and conditioning (grad school work included).
- Able to demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's Degree
- 2-4 years of strength and conditioning experience
- Experience in coaching and teaching student athletes in nutrition

The pay for this position is $20.00/hr. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
