Student Fellowship Director

Fellowship Denver Church
Denver, CO Full Time
POSTED ON 1/27/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/27/2025

DescriptionFellowship Denver is currently looking to add a Student Fellowship Director to lead a growing middle and high school ministry. The Student Fellowship Director has the opportunity to multiply impact and encourage gospel movement in the region by investing in lay leaders, discipling students, caring for families, and engaging others doing similar gospel work in the city. They will join a vibrant ministry team, working closely with the Family Ministry Director and pastoral staff. The OpportunityFellowship Denver Church began 18 years ago in the hearts of four friends and was planted in Central Denver. Since that time, the church has seen steady growth, with two congregations now of around 1,200 people. It is a thriving, healthy church motivated by its mission to help people discover and follow the original Jesus. This mission drives the church to exemplify its commitment to the historic faith and authority of the Bible while also working to disciple those who have no faith background or who are culturally distant from evangelical Christianity. The church’s leadership is aligned around seeing a gospel movement that fills Denver with disciples of Jesus. They are passionate about equipping members to live out their faith in public, developing leaders, supporting church planting, serving their city, and being a resource to other gospel work in the city.In 2016, Fellowship Denver hired a Student Fellowship Director and launched a youth ministry. At the time, the ministry consisted of a plan, a handful of sixth-grade students, and the fervent prayer that God would create a biblically rooted student ministry. Since then, it has grown into a middle and high school ministry 60 kids strong. This is just the beginning of what Fellowship Denver envisions for students, as the church currently includes around 150 elementary school students who will graduate into student ministry in the coming years! The CommunityBy any standards, Denver, Colorado, is an attractive place to live. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, it is filled with seemingly endless outdoor sports opportunities and gorgeous scenery. As the most populous city in Colorado, Denver is a place for families and solo adventurers alike and is surprisingly sunny throughout most of the year. The city offers world-class cultural attractions, craft breweries, awesome music venues, and great dining. However, for all of its glory, the majority of residents are either skeptical of organized religion or may profess faith but lack a clear understanding of Jesus. The presence of gospel-centered churches in the city has grown in recent years, yet that growth is far outpaced by the spiritual and physical needs of a rapidly growing population. The CandidateThe ideal candidate for Student Fellowship Director is theologically astute, skilled at teaching Scripture in an urban, secular context, and works hard to maintain vibrant relational connections with lay leaders, students, and their parents. This role requires being a humble leader and an organizational team player. This person will : Lead with theological depth and vision. The Student Ministry Director needs to be able to think theologically before programmatically. Discipleship to teenagers begins with pursuing God’s heart and methods for their faith to begin and grow.Demonstrate an understanding of a post-Christian secular context. The major forces shaping young people in Denver are rooted in secularism. Many popular youth ministry models and curricula are not built to speak to this culture. However, when theological integration and contextualization are done well, students recognize and can articulate how the world is broken and false compared to the goodness and truth of God and the Bible.Be relationally mature and able to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and leaders.Apply entrepreneurial energy and fun to their strategic planning, creating a ministry that is uniquely tailored to engage students in the Denver context.Maintain an integrated vision of church as family, believing that teenagers grow in their faith when they have a holistic church experience versus merely being involved in a youth group.Build a ministry that can scale up to include 2-3x more students and leaders than its current number.QualificationsMeet the qualifications for deacons in 1 Timothy 3Be in full agreement with Fellowship Denver’s Statement of Essential Beliefs, Teaching Positions, and Ministry ValuesOrganizational and administrative skillsSpiritual vitalityWillingness to learnBachelor’s Degree preferred but not requiredTheological training, either in a local church or institutional settingResponsibilitiesSee the Student Ministry Director Position Focus Sheet (PFS)DetailsReports to Children and Family Ministry DirectorNormal schedule : M-TH office hours SundaySunday work day : Basecamp, Sunday morning service role (i.e., Hospitality, Prayer Team, Sunday Service announcements, Staff Opener or Closer)Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policies for all staffBase salary range : $45,000-$75,000 based on experience and educationTo ApplyEmail resume & cover letter to apply@fellowshipdenver.orgContact email address : apply@fellowshipdenver.org#J-18808-Ljbffr
