About the Job The Department of Library Services department at Colorado Christian University is seeking a collaborative, proactive, dynamic team player to join our librarian team at the brand-new library facility on CCU’s main campus in Lakewood, Colorado. The University Librarian is responsible for collection development and management, as well as some cataloguing.Additional responsibilities include maintaining and deepening vendor and faculty relationships, as well as performing reference interviews through the Book-A-Librarian service.As faculty, the University Librarian also serves the University through committee work and faculty advising, through pursuing professional development, and through producing publishable scholarship. This position reports directly to the Library Director and requires some evening and weekend hours. We are looking for candidates who have :

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program (preferred).
  • Library work experience, which can include paraprofessional, internship, practicum, etc. Academic library experience is preferred.
  • Instruction and / or reference experience.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and self-direction, with flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Ability to balance creativity and practicality while setting and achieving goals.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Software (LMS), LibGuides, and Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Familiarity with professional issues, trends, and technology in academic librarianship
  • Major Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Collection ManagementInvestigate and evaluate new vendors and products and negotiate the best possible terms for purchase / subscription.Investigate and evaluate new physical, eBook, and subscription / database resources.Regularly and systematically evaluate the collection, withdrawing outdated or inappropriate materials.Regularly review and revise collection management policies and procedures.Establish and manage standing orders.Create and manage lists of desirable titles for future purchases.Evaluate donations made to the CCU Library.Manage the CCU Library book sale.Manage budget for purchasing physical and eBook purchases, database subscriptions, software licenses, OCLC Services, and postage.Evaluate current database subscriptions based on cost, access model, usage, and usefulness for CCU community.
  • CataloguingCopy and original cataloging of all items according to accepted national and consortium standards.Review and revise cataloging policies, practices, and procedure documents.
  • Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform reference interviews through the Book-A-Librarian service.Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the CCU Library as needed, including, but not limited to, tasks such as circulation, technical support, staff supervision, chat coverage, ILLs, event planning, LibGuides and website input, etc.Establish and lead the CCU Library’s virtual reality programContribute to professional and scholarly communication via publications, conference presentations, online discussion forums, etc.Participate in professional development via webinars, literature reviews, conference attendance, etc.Serve on the Pika Cataloging Collective, Marmot Library Network’s Union Cataloging, Electronic Content, and Discovery Committees, and Prospector’s Cataloging Task Force.Serve on CCU Committees (as applicable).Participate in CCU’s World Changers Interviews.Serve on hiring committees as needed.
