What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant I, Pueblo Traffic position at Colorado Department of Transportation?
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.
About the Position:
This position handles administrative tasks assigned from Traffic Maintenance, Traffic Electricians and Traffic Electronic Specialist, this would include reception, assisting internal and external customers on a multi-line phone, assisting walk-in customers, handling incoming and outgoing mail, scheduling appointments, typing forms, recordkeeping and serve as backup time keeper for the Program Assistant. This position also assures accurate and efficient front desk and reception procedures at the Pueblo complex by implementing professional standards in communication (verbal and written), record management, correspondence and computer operations.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Answers phones; assures effective, expedient communications and positive public relations;
- Enters data into customer tracking tool on customer inquires or problems
- Answers, routes or redirects customer inquiries;
- Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with all levels of personnel, including internal customers, the public, vendors and other agencies;
- Schedules rooms for meetings;
- Receives incoming mail and packages;
- Distributes mail throughout the building;
- Uses General Office Software Applications such as Word, Excel, Google Mail, SAP, etc;
- Assists other sections as needed with clerical support including faxing, copying, data entry, report generation and updating phone rosters;
- Assists with file management, retention, and archiving;
- Assist with travel arrangements;
- Assists with new hires and onboarding;
- Assists with coordinating random drug tests and ordering uniforms for the department;
- Order office supplies and other items for the unit;
- Creating and checking expense reports, and reconciling expense cards;
- Abides by all CDOT safety regulations, policies and procedures;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Your schedule will primarily be 8:00 am – 4:30 pm work hours, Monday-Friday with the opportunity for a flexible schedule

Will be required to travel between CO. Springs and Pueblo to assist in various activities, training and meetings.
