As the first point of contact for our patients, the Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service. Primary responsibilities include scheduling appointments, triaging patient inquiries, collecting necessary paperwork and insurance information, verifying insurance eligibility, and processing co-pays. Strong customer service skills and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
This position requires travel between three local offices, with additional paid travel to satellite locations as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service during every patient interaction, both in person and over the phone, with a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Answer internal and external phone calls, ensuring prompt and courteous service.
- Schedule patient appointments according to established policies and procedures, respecting the time of both patients and doctors.
- Verify insurance authorizations and benefits; maintain knowledge of common fees for services.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including paperwork collection, verification of contact and insurance details, and collection of copays and balances.
- Coordinate patient flow within the office and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Perform daily reconciliations, close out the day, and manage the cash drawer.
- Travel to satellite locations as required.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with general office duties and maintain a clean work environment as directed by the manager.
