Summary/Objective
CNS is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Drafter III to support drafting operations for a local power marketing administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, updating, and managing technical drawings while ensuring compliance with internal standards and federal guidelines.

Essential Functions

Produce and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and other computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools.
Interpret rough sketches, marked prints, and electronic files to generate accurate technical drawings.
Coordinate manual drafting tasks with Central Files and Headquarters as needed.
Ensure all drafted materials adhere to agency standards and quality requirements.
Use Drawing Information Systems (DIS) to manage revision levels, track requests, and maintain drawing status.
Operate and maintain AutoCAD on LAN/WAN systems, including plotters, printers, and associated software.
Archive and retrieve electronic and physical drawings in compliance with agency protocols.
Support drawing distribution, file organization, and system indexing for engineering projects.
Assist with system testing and software upgrades for drafting tools and platforms.
Participate in the Joint Area Computer Aided Engineering System Support (JACAESS) committee as needed.
Conduct drawing research and collaborate with internal teams and external utilities on shared facilities.
Provide visual documentation, including facility photography and reference material updates on the SharePoint-based Facility Reference Information System (FRIS).
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional drafting
Proficiency in AutoCAD and related drafting software
Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and formats
Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure completeness and accuracy of drawings
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Preferred:
Associate’s degree in Drafting Technology or related technical field
AutoCAD certification or additional CAD training
Experience working with utility or energy-related drawings

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional office environment and requires frequent use of standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers, and reproduction tools.
Physical activities include standing, walking, and using hands to operate drafting tools and equipment. Occasional lifting and maneuvering of files or supplies may be necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to complete an I-9 form upon hire in compliance with federal law.
Procedures for Correcting Substandard Performance
In the event that substandard performance is identified during the term of the contract, the Contracting Officer (CO) or Contract Specialist (CS) will notify the Authorized Federal Official (AFO) in writing. If the deficiency involves a subcontractor employee, the AFO Project Manager will notify the subcontractor’s designated point of contact (POC) the same day the notification is received.
The subcontractor POC will have four (4) working days to either:
Correct the identified performance deficiency, or
Submit an action plan outlining how the deficiency will be resolved beyond the initial four-day period.
The subcontractor POC will be required to follow up accordingly to demonstrate resolution and maintain performance standards as required by the contract.
