JOB DESCRIPTION
CNS is seeking a qualified Drafter III to provide drafting support services to a local power marketing administration. Drafting will be predominantly Computer-Aided-Drafting (CAD) but some manual "board" drafting and revision will also be required to be managed and revised with assistance from Head Quarters and Central Files.
Essential Functions

1. Facilitate manual “board” drafting request through Head Quarters Drafting and Central Files.
2. Draft electronically using computer-aided engineering (CAE) techniques per requests.
3. Draft both new drawings and revisions to existing drawings from rough sketch, marked print, or electronic copy.
4. Provide checking and analyzing of details, dimensions and completeness of drawings to be drafted.
5. Complete assignments in accordance with priority and due dates assigned by task managers, COR or CO.
6. Use latest version of AutoCAD drafting software, Auto LISP-based drafting enhancement software, and symbols/LISP/template directory as approved by HQ.
7. Use the standard agency engineering drawing sizes A, B, C and D as applicable.
8. All drawings prepared or revised by the Contractor shall be checked by the Contractor to ensure that the drawings or revisions made are correct in reference to all established standards and in accordance with the data provided.
9. The COR and CO shall have the right to make final determinations on standardization issues.
10. Control and Tracking of Drawings in the Drafting System.
11. Utilize Drawing Information System (DIS) for requesting and maintaining revision levels.
12. Track work requests and the status of drafting projects using an appropriate tracking system as approved by the COR or CO, throughout the process from requestor submittal to final archival.
13. Track electronic and physical location of all drawings in the drafting process.
14. Coordinate filing, storage and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings locally and through HQ.
15. Archive completed drawings per WAPA standards.
16. CAD and CAE System Operation and Administration.
17. Operate and support AutoCAD on WAPA LAN/WAN system.
18. Maintain the RMR electronic drawing library, including drawing indexes by FID.
19. Maintain, support and operate associated plotters and printers including software and drivers.
20. Maintain, support and manage disc space management and file transfers on local and remote servers.
21. Support limited testing of new drafting products – software and hardware.
22. Attend Joint Area Computer Aided Engineering System Support (JACAESS) committee meetings when required.
23. Maintain complete records on the status of all incoming and outgoing work and the location of all drawings.
24. Prepare and record project requests and documentation and archival transmittal letters with Head Quarters Drafting and Central Files.
25. Request drawings from HQ.
26. Perform drawing research.
27. Work and coordinate with foreign utilities on shared facilities.
28. Reserve drawing numbers and revision blocks in DIS.
29. Ensure that a reasonable stock of necessary supplies is maintained in order to support continuity of work.
30. Coordinate and carry out drawing distribution.
31. Make copies and operate reproduction equipment as needed.
32. Additional Drafting Tasks.
33. Assist RMR personnel in the research of data and document gathering associated with the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of RMR facilities.
34. Provide photographic records of RMR facilities upon request.
35. Convert, maintain and update the “Facility Reference Information System” (FRIS) SharePoint website with the following information.
36. Switching and Single Line Diagrams.
37. Facility 1000 series drawings.
38. Facility photographs (jpeg, if available).
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical work days and hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: Associates’ degree from a technical institute or community college; CADD (computer-aided design and drafting) software certification preferred.
- Must be proficient with CADD software.
- Able to read and interpret complex drawings.
- 5 years of drafting experience.
- Great people skills to be able to interact effectively with management, engineers, project team members, as well as workers on the shop floor.
