Summary: This position has the overall responsibility for the people, processes, procedures, and related controls that deliver the efficient flow of dry goods and packaging at a specific facility. This is a hands-on, working Supervisor accountable for the design, documentation, implementation, cost containment, audit and continuous improvement for all dry goods and packaging inventory flow for standard work, projects, and related systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inventory Control: Manage and optimize inventory levels ensuring inventory accuracy and cycle count integrity to improve business processes with the goal of reducing variability of inventory levels. Responsible for material and packaging consumption posting and ensuring inventory accuracy. At the direction of Purchasing Manager, establish appropriate “OnHand” target inventory levels for key ingredient and packaging materials to minimize disruption to production output. Ensures that storage areas are organized, clean and optimized. Supervises the preparation, budgeting, and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory.
- Continuous Improvement & Auditability: Continuously monitor costs and inventory control and make recommendations to identify areas for possible savings. Works with the Purchasing Manager to develop systems to ensure proper stock rotation, consumption, and reporting of lot information on material usage, including food contact packing materials to meet lot and quantity traceability requirements for BRC and other audits. Supports the BRC audit and document traceability requirements and has a key role in recall/withdrawal activities and accuracy. Understands the allergen control procedures and implements the allergen storage requirements. Trains and audits the material handling team to meet all allergen control procedures.
- Subject Matter Resource: Key plant resource for the process design and execution of all cycle count and physical inventory events of dry goods and packaging. Design, implement and maintain receiving processes, procedures and related controls that minimize dock to stock time, allowing for the timely receipt of material. In coordination with Quality Assurance and Operations, design and implement standard procedures for validating material and packaging quality at time of receipt, as per material specifications.
- Plant Inventory Management: Ensures processes, procedures, and related operational controls (aligning with plant team) supports the adherence to the cycle count process /program. Participates in the development of physical inventory process and related calendar, as well as the establishment of any inventory adjustment process. Completes analysis for SLOB inventory (slow moving/obsolete) and inventory & cycle count results.

- Purchase Order (P.O.) Entry & Accuracy: Correct, review and entry of P.O.'s. Maintains an operational understanding of Protrace to reconcile inventory with business needs. Assists the Dry Goods Manager in the management of external supplier relationships to ensure on time, accurate fulfillment, and delivery. Supports an expanded supplier base with commonly purchased items. Supervises expected inbound Purchase Orders (PO's) process for the facility, alerting stakeholders to late/missing deliveries and initiating appropriate corrective action.
- Leadership Skills: Supports the Purchasing Manager to support process improvement for purchasing, contract management, supplier selection and warehousing. Work with department managers to plan and prioritize purchasing activities and ensure processes align to business needs to provide a high level of customer service. Implement and maintain put away procedures in alignment to the facility's Warehouse Management policies. Implement and maintain staging processes that deliver the right material, to the right place, at the right time. Develop and maintain a high-performance culture.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience, plus three years progressive leadership experience in relevant commercial food operations, preferably in a protein related industry, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, and knowledge of industry product reporting systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations regarding potentially controversial issues, which involve tact, forethought, and influence positive outcomes among groups of varying positions. Bilingual a plus
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Competent mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals accurately. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage correctly. Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with operational-level process issues.

This position also participates in vacation and sick leave pay programs. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. This position is bonus eligible, however, anyone who commences employment after the beginning of the bonus plan period is eligible for a prorated portion of any bonus deemed earned and payable if he or she is hired and active prior to 180 days before the bonus plan period ends.
