Nature of Work:
The First Team Performance Coach Intern will assist and support the club’s Performance Department in the planning and delivery of a full athletic performance/development program for the Colorado Rapids First Team. This program will impact approximately 40 First Team/Second Team players aged between 16 - 32 years of age.
Examples of work performed:
- Support First Team Performance Staff implementation of a periodized athletic development program to be delivered in weight room and on the training field, including, but not limited to, movement assessments, pre-activation programming & implementation, on-field activation, return to play process, gym programming & implementation, & recovery strategies.
- Support First Team Performance & Sport Science Staff in all load monitoring technology, including VALD, Bridge Athletic, STATSports GPS, First Beat HR, OURA Ring, & Teamworks Athlete Management System or other available modes and provide coaching staff with data points to guide periodization and player loading strategies.
- Support First Team Performance Staff & club-wide Performance Staff as needed.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Typical Office Conditions & On-Field Conditions
- Lift 50 lbs. daily, elite demonstration of exercises to the standard of a professional soccer team
- Work in extreme weather conditions
Qualifications:
- This individual must possess a minimum of a BSc in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sport Science, or Athletic Training.
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Preferred
- NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, EXOS Performance Specialist Certification, or NASM-Performance Enhancement Specialist/Corrective Exercise Specialist, or equivalent certification is preferred
- USSF D License or higher
- A Masters in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sport Science, Athletic Training or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
