The Associate Controller for Accounting Operations reports directly to the Controller and collaborates with staff and leadership across campus, to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible financial information used to inform strategic decisions and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. The Associate Controller for Accounting Operations leads the university’s general accounting, cost accounting, and capital asset units. They manage the campuswide accounting processes and internal controls as well as provide leadership for the system close proces
s.
This position collaborates with campus units to ensure the implementation of GASB and other regulatory compliance requirements. They actively lead action items resulting from internal and external audit recommendations, provide guidance on financial transactions to our campus community and serve as experts in all financial processes. The Associate Controller is a key advisor to the Controller, Deputy CFO and the CFO. They regularly represent the Controller’s Office and are expected to make independent decisions and provide recommendations to campus leadersh
ip.
This is a professional position that requires exceptional analytical and communication skills. Collaboration with other financial partners and key personnel within the university is critical for success. They must be able to affect change through a large complex organization and maintain high customer service levels while meeting strict reporting deadlines. In addition, the Associate Controller must be able to work independently, research and resolve issues, and strategically implement financial policies and procedures for the university.
