Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our financial operations within the commercial real estate industry. This pivotal role involves managing a team of 2-3 property accountants and ensuring precise financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial stewardship across our diverse property portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of real estate finance, and a proven track record of enhancing financial performance. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy of the organization and driving our success.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Oversee the financial operations of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for various properties, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
- Develop, implement, and refine financial strategies that promote sustainable growth and profitability, while managing risks associated with the commercial real estate market.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring adequate funding for operational needs and strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
- Effectively manage and mentor a team of property accountants, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and create personalized development plans that align with individual career aspirations and company goals.
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages collaboration, open communication, and accountability.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Develop customized financial reports and dashboards that provide insights into property performance, operational efficiency, and strategic opportunities.
- Communicate financial results and key performance indicators to senior management and investors, facilitating informed decision-making.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards specific to the commercial real estate industry, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices, implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Audit Coordination:
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring that all financial records are accurate, organized, and readily available.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with auditors, responding to inquiries and implementing audit recommendations to enhance financial controls.
Property Management Support:
- Collaborate closely with property management teams to provide financial insights that support operational decisions, enhance property performance, and drive profitability.
- Direct the onboarding process regarding property information from sellers or prior management companies.
- Assist in the evaluation of potential acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects by providing detailed financial analysis and due diligence support.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial management and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead initiatives to automate accounting processes and reporting systems, streamlining workflows and reducing manual intervention.
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
